SIFAX Haulage and Logistics Limited has donated a Toyota Hilux patrol van to the Ijora-Badia division of the Nigerian Police.
The donation of the patrol van is part of the company’s corporate social responsibility.
At the presentation ceremony in Lagos, the company’s General Manager, Mr. Saheed Lasisi, noted that there was a need to partner with the police in order to guarantee a safe and secured environment in the area, adding that it was consistent with the SIFAX Group’s philosophy of impacting the society in a tangible way.
He said: “We know that the Ijora-Badia terrain in which we operate is a very difficult and harsh one, owing to its notoriety for crime. This has however prompted us, to support the Police in the discharge of their duty. We want the call and response time of the police to be swift when there are emergencies. As a responsible organization, we owe it a duty to support effective community policing around the area where our company is located.”
Responding on behalf of the police, Divisional Police Officer, Ijora-Badia Police Station, Mr. Ayeni Kayode Samuel, thanked SIFAX Group for the kind gesture. He noted that the vehicle would really assist the police in curtailing the activities of hoodlums in the area.
“I really want to thank SIFAX Group for this kind gesture. They sensed our need and they have met the need and I must say that we are happy with this. The Federal Government alone cannot provide all the equipment we require to police effectively due to competing needs and shortage in revenue. We promise to make a judicious use of the vehicle.
