The Technical Adviser of SIFAX Group football team, Mr. Henry Ajoh, has said the target of the team’s participation in this year’s edition of the Maritime Cup Competition is to lift the trophy.
According to the Technical Adviser, the ambition of the team is winning the elusive trophy this year. “SIFAX football team has done so well since the competition began few years ago. Having won the silver and bronze medals, we feel the most logical step to take this year is to win the trophy. That is the target we have set for ourselves and with proper planning, we know we would achieve it,” he said.
Speaking on the team’s preparations, Ajoh said the technical crew has been drilling the players and putting them in proper shape for the competition.
He said: “We have intensified much effort on team building and the advantage we have is that 80 per cent of the players in camp were part of last year’s squad. So, they have a better understanding of the objectives of the team and the technical requirements of the coaching crew.
“We have been in camp for some weeks now and so far played five friendly matches in which we won four and drew just one. Though we are satisfied with the current shape of the team, we will, however, keep improving until the competition starts. We are planning more friendly matches to get the boys ready for the task ahead.”
The 2015 Maritime Cup competition holds April 22 – May 7, 2015.
