Less than two years into its operations of Terminal C at Tin Can Island Port in Apapa, Nigeria, Ports and Cargo Handling Services Limited has won the award as the Prestigious Indigenous Terminal Operator of the Year 2007 by Maritime Nigeria Journal.
This award is based on criteria like infrastructural investment, quality service delivery and competitiveness.
Most of the operations at the terminal have become computerized while the physical structures are now wearing new looks. The quays and surfaces have been receiving regular attention, as re-surfacing and de-greasing of terminal have become a routine. The terminal is fully equipped with all security facilities and perimeter fencing in line with the International Ship and Port-facility Security Code.
This transformation coupled with excellent service delivery has given credibility to the Federal Government’s policy of port concession.
Apart from terminal services, the SIFAX Group, the parent company of Ports and Cargo Handling Services Limited, is also into various shipping services including export, warehousing, haulage, cargo consolidation, grouping services, import financing, stevedoring, as well as comprehensive freight forwarding services. Other services provided are security and plant hire.
