It commenced business from the port town of Apapa with prolific freight forwarding, haulage and warehousing operations, as well as adjunct import and export support services. Today, the company has grown into an influential international shipping company with offices in Lagos, Port Harcourt, Warri, Calabar in Nigeria; Tema in Ghana, Houston in Texas, United States, as well as in Rotterdam and Amsterdam in the Netherlands. Its global spread is further enhanced with other offices in Antwerp, Belgium and Hamburg in Germany. STEVEDORING

When Government in Nigeria formulated a policy to commence the regulation of the docklabour department of the shipping sector, Sifax Nigeria Limited was among the organizations licensed to provide stevedoring services in the ports. The very high cargo throughput to and from ports in Nigeria made stevedoring very important and challenging and records show that we have remained a head ahead of our competitors in the industry.

We have reputation for dockworkers safety and welfare, as well as cargo security and speedy handling. We have always discharged ship loads of rice and other bulk cargo intact, without recording losses. The stevedoring department offers flexible work schedules and patterns to suit all commercial needs of our growing clientele.

Our well trained and highly skilled workforce is supported by a comprehensive pool of modern handling equipment to maintain our hallmarks of efficiency and reliable services. The management of our Stevedoring Arm is made up of multinational and multilingual team, who are specially trained on dock operations and supervision.

The Department is well equipped with heavy lift capacity cranes of different sizes, various fork lifts, tractors, yard hustlers and other specialized equipment that handle weighty, delicate and sensitive, as well as other specialized cargo to maintain their good order.

We have a standardized and computerized system that has streamlined our internal traffic and operations; the system provides up to the minute status on container movements and this has helped improve speed of cargo handling, while enhancing safety, security and orderly operations.

The addition of ships container software programme enables us to increase the efficiency of our operations by allowing stowage planning of container vessels in advance before the arrival of the vessel at the quay.

The stevedoring Arm is situated at the heart of the port, close to our operational base, from where we control the loading and discharge of a wide range of cargoes.
